Nursing unions in solidarity with the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec – FIQ

Statement

The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU) stands in solidarity with the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ) as they begin striking November 8 and 9.

With 80,000 nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists willing to take strike action, this will send a strong message to the Quebec government that “Y’a des limites”. Nurses and health care workers in provinces across Canada are facing deplorable working conditions and cannot tolerate governments aiming only to make things worse.

The future of our public health care system and pathway to ending the nursing shortage means respecting nurses. At a time so difficult for health care workers, FIQ members are standing up for what is right and have the full support of nurses from across the country.

Nursing unions across Canada are proud to stand in solidarity with FIQ members and the Front commun as they demand respect and a government that is committed to fair salaries, improved workload and better work-life balance.

In solidarity always,

Linda Silas, CFNU President
