Investigation into Canada’s management of COVID-19 and health worker safety to be released

October 2, 2020 (OTTAWA, ON) – As new COVID-19 cases in Canada soar, an independent investigation into the nation’s performance responding to the pandemic and protecting health workers is set to be released. The investigation’s final report is titled A Time of Fear: How Canada failed our health care workers and mismanaged COVID-19.

The report details Canada’s systemic failure to learn the lessons of the past and protect our health care workers, who currently suffer a rate of infection double the global average.

Mario Possamai, former senior advisor to the Ontario SARS Commission, was enlisted by the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions to conduct the independent investigation and produce the report. Following the report’s release, a live virtual session will publicly detail its findings.
