From all of us at the CFNU, we’d like to wish you a safe and joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year.
This year has been challenging, to say the least: health care workers are understaffed and overwhelmed, trying to provide the best care they can; patients are waiting record times for care; families are scared as sick children go without medication and care.
While this time of year can be full of fun and joy, it can also add stress and anxiety. With the busy holiday season upon us, it’s important to practice self-care. If you need to speak to someone for support, the CFNU has free resources available on our website.
To the countless nurses working over the holidays to keep us safe, we cannot thank you enough. The CFNU has been fighting for the changes you need to have a good work-life balance, feel safe at work and enjoy the career you’ve caringly dedicated yourself to. We will continue to fight for the respect and support you deserve, and for a truly healthy care system for all.
This holiday season, remember to spread kindness, not the virus. Please, wash your hands, wear a mask, and get your flu shot and COVID-19 boosters.
Take care of yourselves and each other.
In solidarity always,
Linda Silas,
President
Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions
