The world is shocked and saddened by the senseless and horrific violence that took place in Paris on Friday evening.
My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to everyone in Paris, and especially the family and friends of the more than 100 people killed and injured.
Unfortunately, there are still many unknowns and many waiting to hear if their loved ones are safe. No one imagines this could happen when they decide to go to a restaurant, sporting event or concert on a Friday night. No parent imagines this could happen to their child. It is unfathomable.
The Canadian Labour Congress stands with the French people in support and solidarity at this tragic time. We thank in particular the police, first responders and other rescue workers on the ground, and we join the international community in offering any assistance we can provide.
