Canada’s nurses stand in solidarity with members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) as they have been left with no option but to go on a nationwide strike. After little progress and a year of negotiations, they made the difficult decision to take strike action.
Postal workers are simply negotiating for fair wages, safe working conditions, the right to retire with dignity and a say in planned changes to service delivery. Instead of negotiating in good faith, the employer responded with the threat of lay-offs and changes to working conditions.
Canadians rely on the services of our much-valued postal workers, and we all need them back working in our communities. The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions calls on Canada Post to show respect for the bargaining process and come to the table with a respectful proposal.
