Canada’s frontline nurses, members of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, mourn the passing of the Honourable Murray Sinclair. His work as the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission both brought the voices of residential school survivors forward and charted a path for reconciliation in Canada with 94 Calls to Action.
Murray Sinclair was a trailblazer serving as the first Indigenous Judge in Manitoba and later as one of Canada’s Senators. He lived a life committed to justice, truth and fairness.
Sinclair inspired us to ensure we are always striving to provide safe, respectful and high-quality health care that meets the needs of Indigenous peoples and communities. On behalf of Canada’s nurses, we offer our condolences to the Honourable Murray Sinclair’s family and loved ones, and we promise to further commit to following through on the Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action.
