Leadership at The Ottawa Hospital, working closely with ONA and other health care unions, have undertaken a journey to reduce workplace violence hazards and create a safer workplace for both patients and health care providers.
Health Standards Organization: Leading Practices. In 2013, to support the corporate strategy and build a culture of data-driven decision-making, The Ottawa Hospital embarked on a roadmap to develop an enterprise business intelligence program which has built accessible dashboards to display data, including one on patient safety, which tracks several key indicators.
Poster presented at the sixth International Conference on Violence in the Health Sector held in Toronto, Canada in October 2018, details the journey The Ottawa Hospital has taken to reduce workplace violence hazards and create a safer workplace for both patients and health care providers, identifying the barriers and enablers to change, as well as the outcomes achieved.
