The voice of women workers at the UN

This week, union women from around the world attended the 60th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW60), at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

This forum brings together governments and civil society from around the world to discuss the implementation of the Global Goals for women and girls worldwide.

CFNU President Linda Silas was one of 40 members representing Canada.

The priority theme for UNCSW60 is: “Women’s empowerment and its link to sustainable development”.

Members of the Canadian Trade Union Delegation have been bringing attention to several key issues:

  • Providing Relief for First Nations Children, Youth & Families
  • Addressing Domestic Violence in the Workplace
  • Ending Violence Against Women and Girls
  • Creating Decent Work and Good Jobs for All
  • Addressing Pay Equity and Closing the Gap
